If you're a college football expert who's picked not one but two undefeated, top-10 teams to go down in shocking upsets in one topsy-turvy Saturday -- as senior writer Brett McMurphy has -- then you've set yourself up to look like either a genius or a fool.

In this edition of the College Football Podcast, McMurphy explains why he expects Missouri (over Oklahoma State) and Michigan State (over Wisconsin) to make him look like the genius this week. McMurphy and Adam Aizer also talk over Craig Thompson's new 16-team playoff proposal, the LSU suspensions, Russell Wilson's Heisman chances, what team in the BCS standings is overrated, and more.

PODCAST: Brett McMurphy on Week 8

To McMurphy's comment that Thompson must not have confidence in the MWC-CUSA alliance, or he wouldn't be coming out with a playoff proposal... "If you're trying to get a BCS bid, why would you be proposing a playoff."

Because, I'm not sure why one is necessarily exclusive of the other (?). What, he ruins his new conference's chances at a BCS bid by suggesting a different format? Don't follow your logic, my friend.

My opinion, based on what I'm reading Thompson to say: He believes a tactonic shift at the conclusion of this BCS contract is very plausible, and as this conference move suggests, he sees value in being on the front end of affecting what that next environment is going to look like.
