Florida finally breaks free on Demps run

Third-ranked Florida's afternoon hasn't been good. Not at all. John Brantley is 13-18, but for a comical 41 yards, and he's had--by ESPN's conservative estimation--12 snaps go badly. Meanwhile, only big plays by the Florida defense have led to points, either directly or by giving the Gators a short field.

But after Miami kicked their fourth field goal of the day to pull within 21-12 in the fourth quarter, Florida finally broke free with a big play. Jeff Demps took a run 72 yards to the house, and Florida jumped to a 27-12 lead. Of course, since today's all about Florida's ineptitude, Caleb Sturgis missed the extra point.

Still, the damage to the Redhawks' momentum has been done, and Miami was utterly ineffectual in their ensuing drive. They're punting with nine minutes left, and this game is pretty much over.
